What are lounge rooms?
We use the term Lounge Rooms to refer to the areas of this web site that are listed in the Main Menu. Because the Main Menu appears on every page within this site, you will be able to enter any of the Lounge Rooms no matter where you happen to be. Below is a list of the Lounge Rooms and a short description in what you will find in each one.
Home - This the room you first enter when you visit the Faculty Lounge. When there are announcements, they will be posted here. There may also be polls or surveys from time to time.
Orientation Room - This is the place for newcomers to get acquainted with the basic features, rules and navigational aspects of this site.
Q&A - You are in a section of this room right now and it is the place to come for more information about what's, why's, where's and how's of this site.
Lecture Hall - In the Lecture Hall you will be able to view videos that should be of interest to teachers. In addition to the features video on the first page, you will find menus for additional videos on this site as well as external links to videos outside of this site. External links always open up new windows or tabs on your browser.
Library - The Library, of course, contains reading materials. As in the Lecture Hall, there is a featured article as well as a menu of additional readings within and outside of this site.
Computer Lab - In the Computer Lab you will find information about free software that you can use for your classes. In some cases there are tutorials and samples provided on the first page and additional menus.
Chat Room - In the Chat Room you can talk to other Lounge members who are visiting at the same time that you are. We hope that you will develop new friendships and professional contacts in the Faculty Lounge.
Forum - This is the place to have discussions with colleagues, ask questions and share your ideas with others. Unlike the Chat Room, the Forum is for discussions that take place over time and is not limited to teachers who happen to be online the same time that you are.
Recommended Links - This is the place for you to suggest links to sites that you think others will find worthwhile and to see the links suggested by others.
Suggestion Box - With your ideas and suggestions, this site will accumulate more and more resources and will be more responsive to your needs. So let us know if you want to see a new feature added or something changed.
My Profile - Here you can add or change information about yourself that is available to other users.
